Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said drafting QB Deshaun Watson was like drafting Michael Jordan. Woah, hyperbolize much?
Swinney is as educated as anyone on the topic of Watson’s behind-the-scenes traits, which is as important as anything he does on the field. But I don’t know how to take this comment. Does he mean he should be passed over until the 3rd overall pick? Does that make Mitch Tribusky or DeShone Kizer Hakeem Olajuwon or Sam Bouie? If so: which is which because, unfortunately, that means someone’s career is going to be dogged by injuries.
Specify, Dabo. Specify.
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger says he’s going to take time and ponder his options. What a bunch of bullshit. I mean, c’mon- really? He stands to make a base salary of $12 million for the next three seasons. His team is that close to being a force to be reckoned with in the AFC. Why would you quit now? Because you’re 35? Because you’ve already won a Super Bowl?
I’m not buying it.
No, as ESPN reported earlier, his other comments about play-calling probably have as much to do with this little drama episode.
The Yordano Ventura story took an ugly turn Tuesday. Apparently, after the car accident in the wee hours of the morning, Ventura was found alive, but instead of saving the young Royals pitcher, those individuals chose to rob him and flee the scene.
Whoever you are, die in a fire.
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquire 2B Logan Forsythe from the Tampa Bay Rays for RHP Jose De Leon. And apparently Rays 3B Evan Longoria is all put out about it, calling him a ‘rare player’, according to ESPN’s Doug Padilla.
So the career .255 hitter is the key to the team, Evan? Got it.
I think what Evan is really miffed about is that the team gave up a veteran for a 24 year old pitcher who might just be a ‘tweener’- he dominated Triple-A before being called up, but 2-0 while posting an ERA over 6 in four starts. Sure, not a complete sample, but hardly worthy of Rays fans getting excited.
The up-side is, of course, if De Leon is worthy of the expectations the Dodgers had for him last year, they get a steal. By the time that happens, though, Longoria might be gone.
LeBron James says the Cleveland Cavaliers need a ‘f***ing playmaker’. After losing to the New Orleans Pelicans (I still hate that name), James shared his frustration with the roster makeup of the defending NBA champions.

Nothing says ‘leadership’ like taking your teammates to the woodshed in the media.
Chicago Bulls G Dwayne Wade says the team’s struggles have him worried about his future. Apparently Wade is disappointed the Bulls are nothing more than a .500 team.
Well, Dwayne, what did you think would happen when you join a team that went 42-40 last season? Did you think your 35-year-old behind was going to be the one to deliver the Bulls to the next level?
With all respect, if you really thought this Bulls team had a legitimate shot to compete, you’re at fault. A team that lost Derrick Rose (I know, how much of a loss was this really?), Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah brought in Wade, Rajon Rondo, and later Michael Carter-Williams was set to improve?
How exactly? I don’t get it.
What Wade should be doing, if he’s really not chasing a ring like he said he wasn’t earlier, is not making inane comments like this to the media and keeping this stuff in the locker room. He may have a point that the team has struggled to get to that .500 level, but you’re the big name behind the scenes.
Put up or shut up.
